After the brine tank has been cleaned of salt and water add enough water so the water is 4 5 gallons of clean water into the brine tank with cup of unscented household bleach. Put 5 gallons of clean water into the brine tank.

Water softeners are designed to prevent minerals from scaling on your pipes and fixtures but funnily enough they are subject to salt which is still a mineral scaling inside the tank and within the system s lines. After a few months dirt and sediment can plug the venturi valve. Let the bleach solution sit in the brine tank for 15 minutes. Take the system out of bypass mode.

This build up can sometimes form salt bridges at the base of the tank that can prevent your system from softening the water. A resin cleaner may be used to clean the system s resin and the brine tank should be cleaned when the brine becomes significantly dirty. If your brine tank isn t working properly you may need to clean the venturi valve. Some softeners allow you to also disconnect the brine tank allowing you to easily wipe the basin clean.

We suggest using a mixture of warm water and a little bit of bleach. During a regeneration cycle the nozzle and venturi create suction that moves brine into the resin tank. Lastly add water softener salt to the brine tank at least two 50 lb bags we recommend keeping the brine tank at least one quarter full of water softener salt at all times.
